As promised I have begun to explore the London kendo clubs and have settled into Hizen Kendo Club near Euston and Kings Cross. I did check out UCL’s club but it was very much focused at fresher students and felt odd to be the only person there over 30, not currently studying there and most probably unable to socialise at the union bar afterwards. Hizen’s instructor seems about as good as they get and not too strict on attendance or arrival times which is great for if I need to see a client in the late afternoon or even evening. I also happened to chance upon my brother on my way up there and when I told him about it he wanted to join as well so hopefully when we get into armour I’ll have a training partner nearby. I’m wondering if it will help with some of my acupuncture skills too since kendo is one of the few martial arts centred around a weapon and trains you to direct ki through an object, so in theory it should help with directing ki through a needle too but I’ll have to find that out as my skills develop.
In other news I’ll be doing another therapy day at the Duck Pond Market on 18th November. Again you can email Connie at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 07976 969 858 to book a session. Prices will be £12 for a 25 minute sample of tuina massage.
