The therapy day last week was a roaring success and excellent practice. I ended up treating seven people over five hours and the demand was so high I was asked to do another the week after, which sadly I could not attend, and another scheduled for 25th October! It is being held at Lelung Dharma Centre and I think there will be a Bowen practitioner working there too. I imagine it will be the same deal as before, £12 for a quick 25 minute taster, including any consultation or examination. If anyone would like to book you can email Connie at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 07976 969 858.
In other news I have been developing some martial skills in the use of the bow at Ruislip Bowmen’s club and completed my beginners course. I enjoyed it and I would like to continue but the winter is closing in and it might not be much fun in the snow. So unless I join an indoor club I might have to wait for a bit of warmth to return before I practice some more. As luck would have it my old university, UCL, hosts a kendo club which I always wanted to try and their term is beginning in October so I am considering going there and learning some sword skills. I always loved the idea of dressing up in armour and having sword fights with sticks of bamboo! It would also represent a return to the original roots of my interest in Oriental philosophy, through the practice of Budokhan, where I learned aikido, sword and staff skills about 20 years ago and studying it by returning to the university I left almost 15 years ago.
I have heard that Zoroaster called our personal evolution a spiral. Time goes around in cyclical movements but each time we revisit the same point we have the experience of a whole cycle within us and are different to when we visited it before. It is not the first time I have seen elements of my life come full circle and ideas from the past informing the direction I should go in the present so maybe this is another example of that. It certainly seems to be nostalgic and 15-20 years is not so long ago, is it? Hopefully I should have a few more 15-20 year cycles left in me yet.
